Remember the Sparrows

Worry, fear, anxiety, stress….

So often we succumb to these emotions. We plan our lives to perfection never leaving a gap for God to come in and take control, and when he chooses to redirect you, all your negative emotions set it. They overtake your mind and your world starts to fall apart around you.

Sound familiar? I’m sure it does because at one point or another we plan and detail where we are going to live, who we are going to marry, how much we need to earn, and if by some chance a slight struggle sets in, we begin to shake.

Today I wanted to share the three words that keep me focused when the world doesn’t stick to my plan (as if my plans are so great anyway). REMEMBER THE SPARROWS! Okay, so what could this possibly mean, right? In Matthew 6: 25-30 the Bible speaks of why we should not worry.

 Matt 6: 25- 30

25″For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? 26″Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? 27″And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? 28″Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. 29″Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. 30″But the very hairs of your head are all numbered

All these simple verses remind me is that I am surely worth more than a couple of cents. I am surely worth more than sparrows! Yet look at how God goes out of His way to acknowledge them. He feeds them and protects them. Why would He cease to do this for me?

So today, I encourage you. If you are scared about what tomorrow may hold for you. If you are worried about how your next grocery bill will be paid, just REMEMBER THE SPARROWS. If God takes care of them, how much more will He take care of YOU!!
